The e-PCM is an AI-based online generator condition monitoring system designed to continuously assess the condition of three-phase AC generators and their prime movers, the machinery that drives them. Permanently installed as part of the generator monitoring setup; the e-PCM identifies existing and developing electrical and mechanical faults during operation, providing maintenance teams with ongoing condition information to support the management of power generation equipment within a predictive maintenance programme.

Powered by self-learning algorithms, the e-PCM monitors electrical signals to evaluate the performance of your entire drivetrain.   1. Stage 1

    Measure Voltage and Current

    Installed at the generator control cabinet, the e-PCM collects three-phase voltage and current measurements through electrical transducers.

  2. Stage 2

    Build a Reference Model

    During its self-learning phase, the system processes these measurements to create a mathematical model, or digital twin, that accounts for operating conditions such as speed and load.

  3. Stage 3

    Compare Operating Behaviour

    The e-PCM continuously compares operating behaviour against its reference model. Developing faults in the generator or its prime mover can affect the electrical current waveform, creating differences that the system can identify.

  4. Stage 4

    Analyse and Communicate Findings

    When abnormalities are detected, the system assesses the type and severity of the developing fault. Status indicators and detailed diagnostic information communicate the findings to maintenance teams for investigation and action.

  • Condition Status and Alarm Levels

    Colour-coded indicators display equipment condition, with status levels including Normal, Watch Line, Watch Load, Examine 1 and Examine 2.

  • Historical Trend Recording

    Records trends for reviewing changes in equipment condition over time, with recording capacity dependent on the available database size.

  • Power Spectral Density Analysis

    Records Power Spectral Density (PSD) curves for more detailed analysis of the measured electrical signals.

  • Power and Energy Monitoring

    Measures active and reactive power, records energy production and operating hours, and provides daily and monthly energy summaries.

  • Electrical Parameter and Harmonic Monitoring

    Monitors three-phase voltage and current, frequency, power factor and electrical imbalance. Harmonic analysis includes total harmonic distortion and odd harmonics from the 3rd to the 13th.

  • Remote Monitoring Software

    Supports access to monitoring data through Artesis Enterprise Software and the Artesis IoT Portal, with user access permissions set by facility or equipment.

  • Diagnostic Email Alerts

    Provides an email notification tool for diagnostic alerts, allowing monitoring information to reach designated users.

  • Third-Party System Integration

    Supports integration with other monitoring systems through Modbus TCP and OPC DA 2.0, with data availability depending on the interface and system configuration.
